Wartime Books

I came across this when I was making my "stack" of old books and thought it was interesting so I am sharing it with you.  It was in the front of one of the books I was using.

Wartime Books
Wartime shortage of pulp, manpower, and transportation has produced a servere shortgage o fpaper.  In compliance with orders of the War Production Board, wartime books are printed on lighter-weight paper.  This reduces thickness and weight.  new books have more words to the page and smaller margins.  This reduces the number of pages without reducing reading content.
Thinner books save paper, critical copper, and other metals.  They help also to avoid wartime increases in book prices.  Wartime books appear to be smaller, but their content has not been cut.  They are complete.  The only change is in appearance.

Good Morning

Ok, I just came down to my studio all focused and ready to work but....I thought I would walk out and get the mail first.  Well, guess what was in the mail box??  The new Pottery Barn Catalog full of Coastal Decorating.  I just LOVE Coastal Decorating, even though I live in NW Pennsylvania (and of course Spring temperatures haven't even thought about coming here yet).  So, I am a little distracted right now to say the least.

Maybe I will get some fun ideas in the catalog...be back in a bit after i am done purusing the pages!!!:)

Here is my little Kitty "Bitsy" waiting for me in my Studio while I was out to get the mail and walking around.  she loves hanging out in my studio with me.

A glimmer of hope that Spring is on its way!!

Hello From The Yellow Daisy!!

Welcome, My name is Debbie and I am just starting "The Yellow Daisy".   I am a stay at home mom who loves to decorate, share tips with friends, and shop for treasures that I can change into something spectacular.  I love to garden and dear hubby and I did a ton of landscaping last summer so I am anxiously awaiting for Spring to arrive and all my flowers to start popping out of the ground...so I am sure you will see pictures of those when they start coming to life.

The Yellow Daisy is an escape for me.  You will  find me talking about current projects I am working on, new techniques I am trying, sharing tips with you or just rambling on with excitement about a piece I just found at goodwill or an estate sale:)

I hope you will come back often and share your thoughts with me.  Remember to add my page to your favorites so you can come back often....there is a lot more to come.

Have a wonderful day!

Debbie
